Hi guys,I recently built up a PIII computer and didnt have a hard drive handy that night to put in the computer. So LIKE AN IDIOT i took the 2 drives out of a perfectly working P133 (win98) and put them into the New 'puter. Big mistake, I configured the card for the new system, but it was not very succesfull, then I started to get some errors (cross-linked file errors), at that point I decided to pull the drives out and put them back into the old P133 'puter.
Now that when the real fun (!!) started! The Win98 will only run in safe mode, I've tried changing video drivers, but I can only run in 640x480 mode. When I change the settings, it will not let me, and tells me I need to restart for the changes to take effect, I restart, but its still the same 640 x 480 resolution.
Also the modem does not work, its an internal modem (diamond 56K MAX) which up to now has been very reliable. When I do a modem diagnostic test, it tells me the port is already open, and can't find the modem.
The problem appears to be in the BIOS as far as I can tell, did the new computer write something to the old BIOS? and is there a way out of this mess. The last resort is to load W98 2nd ED.
I appreciate any help you guys can render, I am at abit of a loss to sort this one out.
Thanks!
