Cable Modem Question

Yes, Marc, you are correct. I have Roadrunner cable service. The cable TV company installed a new line to my computer room from my existing cable service line outside the house. It is much faster than dial up service, and you will never want to switch back to that once you've had it.

I wonder what my local cable company has to offer, I dont know if they have that service here yet, But im sure they get alot for it if they do. lol

If they do, they probably have a web site with cable MODEM info and rates. Look for their web site at http://www.google.com/. I'm paying $39.95/month and it is well worth it. Ask for a MODEM with network interface instead of USB. And ask them to supply the network adapter for your computer, if it is free. Larry

usually Cable comes to an area before DSL but you can always check to see if DSL is provided in your area.

DSL is usually through your telephone provider because it uses the existing telephone lines.
