COMPUTER FAILS ON START UP....SOMETIMES

hello,
perhaps you may be able to help or offer suggesstions?
On start up of my computer when it goes through its loading of the bios and all the pre system procedures start up. Sometimes (getting more often)it stops at the VERIFYING DMI POOL DATA....... and then I get a message disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter? I just keep re-settining the computer till it does finish loading ME as it should. BUT the time it takes is getting longer. So far if I reset it enough times it will load my milleniumn(ME) please give your opinion /advice .

I would suggest running scandisk, including a surface sscan, on the hard disk drive and backing-up all critical data. As a precaution, a virus scan wouldn't hurt. Larry

ok thanks for the suggesstion, I have done a scan disk on all three of my hard drives c,d,e I have one partitioned 30 gb c,d and 1 10 gb e drive.
They all took some time to perform but all three came back with the same results, no errors or problems. Now I am not sure what you mean or how to check the thing for a virus? With my new info is there anything else you might suggest?

I meant to run a virus scan as a precaution, such as McAfee (http://www.mcafee.com/anti-virus/default.asp? ) or Norton (http://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/content/productlink.cfm#0). However, the problem is usually caused by hardware. Could you provide more information on your computer and motherboard (http://duxcw.com/digest/Fromshop/mb/det.htm)? Larry
