Epox Mvp3g-m

My broplem is when i load windows Me my system only has one pc1 slot that will work.
all cards work in that one pci slot one out of 5. But when i load windows 98 all the slots work
5 out of 5 and configure ok. Configuration is the same for both systems like bios set the same,
operating system is loaded and configured from a fresh start.Fresh start is fdisk,format,load
operating system,garth drive,midi port drive,agp video driver.Bios is set the same usb,agp,ram,
operating system auto.
Running epox mvp3g-m,pc 133 sdram 196 meg,xpert 2000 video card,56k modem,sound blaster live card,
ati tv winder card,1.44 and a 120meg floppy drive,dvd rom,hp cd writer,300watt power supply,
AMD k62 3d 500mhz cpu set at 100 x 5.dimm=cpu.keyboard on.
Can you help me figure this out would like to use windows me..???

Did you try the Me install with just the video card and then add one card at a time? Also, I would reset the CMOS before starting. That’s done with jumper on the motherboard. I would do the sound card first, the MODEM second, the TV card last. Try enabling OS is PnP aware, or something like that in the CMOS Setup. Larry

This will be my procedure:
1-remove all pci cards and agp card have no isa cards.
note i will leave in the DVD player and the hp cdwriter
and the two floppys the 1.44 and the 120meg..if thats ok????
2-Then i will remove the jumper to off for the keyboard on funition.
3-Clear the CMOS for 5 minuets.
4-reboot with my boot disk and do a fdisk then reboot and format
the C drive.
Reboot again and set the bios start with load setup defaults,then set
the ram to sdram (fast),cpu host clock to (100\33),PUP os installed (yes),
resources controlled by (auto),assign irq for usb(enable),Init display
first to (pci slot),on chip usb(enable)Hard drive primary master(auto)
5-I will start with my video card it is a pci it will be in slot one.
6-reboot with the boot disk and load from the WINDOWS ME disk (setup)
will use the fat32 yes.
7-after windows reboots i will load the VIA drivers AGP drive and the
IRQ midiport driver, note i will load the usb 108 driver for windows me.
then reboot.shut down.
8-then will take out the pci video card and install the xpert 2000 agp
card reboot and set the bios to int display first to agp.
then load video drivers......then shut down.
OK i will put in the sound card in the number three pci slot
like you said and will get back to you.......
DOES THIS LOOK OK TO START WITH????

I would disconnect all drives not required to install Windows.

That jumper has never caused a problem with any computer I’ve worked on.

I would not do anything to the CMOS that has just been cleared, until after Windows is installed, accept disable all motherboard resources not required to install Windows. Think of motherboard resources as more expansion boards because in reality that it in essence is what they are. Disable USB in two places.

I would not do this. I would start with the AGP adapter.

Tryed to load windows again like above and no go.But i have some new info.After the install of the sound card the machine just rebooted all the time after about 10 reboots by itself the error was.FILE NAME VMM(01)it was useing irq 12.So i moved the card two slots down.Then after that install the irq moved to 11 the same as my dislay controler ira 11 and it just froze up on the start screen.So i loaded windows 98 and all my cards and software and all went well, and had no trouble loading it ,just like windows me.
This is a problem Yes..and i loaded the VIA 4 in one drives all of them.
Got a email from Epox and they said i need a 2meg bios to run windows me.They said to many code for a 1 meg bios and to upgrade to a 2 meg.
Is this right (yes or no)

Sounds odd to me. I am running Me on an MVP3G2 motherboard. I just bumped into this one: mskb 264395 at http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp, which may be the answer. Larry
