How to Restore from old Version Backup

I have a program backed up on 4 floppies which were made with the old MS Backup utility (on Win3.1 or 95?). It created 2 files on each floppy, one named backup.00X and the other control.00X.
I wanted to restore it using the Win 98 backup/restore utility, but it won't recognize it as a backup file. It wants files with a .QIC extension.
Got any suggestions?
