Workgroup Ver Domain in Windows NT
Yair_Churi Jul-10-01 11:04 PM
Please HELP!
I have a Windows NT computer that is connected a DOS machine (using Network Client for MS-DOS (version 3.0) & NetBEUI protocol). This configuration works just fine.
Now, I wanted to connect the NT computer to my office LAN. I added another network card to the NT, hooked it up the wall, changed the NT configuration from WORKGROUP to DOMAIN, configured the new card and the LAN configuration is working. However the DOS machine can not connect to the NT (this configuration is exactly the same way as before, I have only changed the WORKGROUP name to the new DOMAIN name).
I get a message that the password is invalid and prompt to enter a password! What is going on? What am I missing here???

Please help,
Thanks,
Yair.

Two computers must belong to the same workgroup to network them in a Windows peer-to-peer network (this includes DOS clients). If there is a domain in the network configuration, then the workgroup name must be identical to the domain name. See http://duxcw.com/faq/network/bm.htm and http://duxcw.com/faq/network/netsel.htm.
