New to Networking questions

Ok, I bought 2 HP Pavilion PC's over the last 2 years, and now that I am getting Earthlink DSL, I would like to network my computers. My first PC was part of a 2 computer network an ex-friend of mine set up, but the first PC is no longet with the computer is was with.
My first PC runs on Win 98, the second computer runs on Win ME.
How do I get these computers to talk and share a printer?
How do I get these computers to share the DSL?
