win 98 & Win Me trying to connect dsl through switch.

I have recently been able to connect my Win 98 machine and my Win Me machine through a 5 port linksys switch so that I can get my dsl ethernet modem on either computer. However, I cannot get it so that I can be on dsl with both of them at the same time. Any ideas on how to do this? Right now I have the modem going into the uplink on the switch, and the computers going into the ports 1 & 2.
