HELP...Can Ping outside IPs, but IE won't work

I set up an ICS connection using win98SE and set up two separate client machines. Both clients can ping oustide IP addresses through the host machine, but IE cannot connect to any websites.
I obviously have the connection sharing working since I can ping, but I can't figure out why IE refuses to load any pages.
All proxy settings are turned off and the only protocol I'm using is TCP/IP.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

More info would be helpful. How are you connected to the Internet? What does Network Configuration look like in the Control Panel? Based on very limited info, it appears that you have a DNS setting problem. If you cannot ping duxcw.com, than that is the likely problem. Sorry for being so stingy with information...
I'm connecting using an analog modem. My ISP dynamically assigns my IP and DNS.
What you said about the DNS lookup makes sense...I'm only able to ping actual IP addresses....it won't do name lookup.
As far as my network config....I have everything (almost) exactly like your How-to explains.
The only difference is that the TCP/IP bound to my network card does not say (Home)....I've reinstalled ICS numerous times like you suggest, but to no avail.
Do you have any ideas as to why it won't show (Home)....The only logical next step I can see is scrapping all the network settings and starting from scratch again.

Your ISP most likely does not dynamically assign DNS IP addresses; they have static IPs in every instance I’ve seen. The DNS configuration on a Windows computer is manually done and the lack of the DNS IP addresses in the dial-up and/or client configuration is probably the problem. To prove it, try connecting with you browser to http://216.92.56.121/. Now try http://duxcw.com/. The first one should work. The second one must use a Domain Name Server on the Internet to lookup the domain name duxcw.com and find its static IP address of 216.92.56.121. Most ISPs have two DNS’s: primary and secondary. To manually enter the IP addresses of your primary and secondary DNS’s for a dial-up connection, Click My Computer, Dial-up Networking, right click your dial-up connection, choose Properties, select Server Types, click the TCP/IP Settings command button, select the Specify name server addresses radio button, enter the Primary and Secondary DNS addresses specified in your ISP's paperwork for your account, and click OK. DNS IP addresses are not normally assigned to the TCP/IP protocol in the Network Configuration in the Control Panel. Although Microsoft says (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q238/1/35.asp?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0) to disable DNS for ICS clients, I have found that you may have to enter them in the Network Configuration TCP/IP protocol configuration for clients (not the ICS host). I know it seems odd...I've dealt with numerous ISP's and they all have given me DNS numbers to enter in, but this ISP does not. In fact, they won't even tell me what the DNS numbers are. They just tell me to leave the DNS entries blank and that they're servers will take care of the rest.
I really appreciate all your help so far....If you have any other ideas, I would be very grateful.

I am wrong about ISP's not automatically assigning DNS IPs, I just never saw it or noticed it before and did not research it. My ISP just started doing it. I will look into this further. It may affect Internet sharing in networks with static IPs for the local network. Sorry about that. Larry

That's alright. Thanx for all the help. On the host machine we were dicussing, I got a new hard drive and went ahead and did a clean install of win98 SE. Everything works great now.
Go figure!!!

I know you already have it working but I just seen the message and thought I would add my two cents worth. I had the exact same problem on a pc with the exception of I was not sharing the connection. I could get to a web sight via an IP address but not thru a domain name. I had the correct dns numbers and everything. I double checked everything. Ended up I uninstalled TCP/IP and reinstalled it and set it up and wolla it worked.
