I originally installed ICS allmost a year ago netting all the systems at work initially, then my home network. Following your instructions, everything worked fine until I introduced a new laptop and a 3Com 100base CardBus adaptor. The Laptop looks at the Internet okay, but for the life of me I cannot file share unless I install the NETBEUI protocol on both server/host and the Laptop. This condition applies to both the Network at work were all six machines file and Internet share quite happily using the TCP/IP protocol only and at home with two systems. This has me just about stumped, Any suggestions other the refuse bin would be appreciated.

All I can say is that I have seen this problem before and the only solution I have found is to install NetBEUI in addition to TCP/IP. You might want to try letting the system sit for a long time to see if it will sort-out browse masters or disabling the auto browse master on the notebook first. Using static IPs and installing host tables (read C:\windows\hosts.sam with notepad) should work, but it is prone to error and more work than simply installing NetBEUI. According to Microsoft, TCP/IP is supposed to work without resorting to that. Larry
