I am having so much trouble getting a peer to peer Network consisting of 50 ft. of cat 5 cable to work, that I've considerd now spending more money to get a hub to go between my 2 PC's (maybe that will solve the problem) I have a 10/100 Nic in each PC. My question is , will using a 10bt hub, will I notice a reduced transfer speed between the 2 PC's and from the Client and the host's internet connection ? Thanks. Jim O 1. It will slow them down, but the relationship is not linear (see table on http://duxcw.com/digest/Reviews/Network/dlink/dhn910/dhn910-4.htm). I would solve the problem by buying a (crossover) cable which is made properly (http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/network/cable/cable1.htm). 50 ft. is not long for a CAT 5 cable; a football field is.
