w98 to w98SE no direct connection
sdj Dec-11-01 09:46 PM
One computer has w98 v4.10.2222 A (first edition right?) and a ADSL connection. The other one is in another place, has w98SE and a 56k modem (as well as the first one). Is it possible for the second computer to access the internet through the first one - and in this way to use the ADSL connection-?
Thanks

No. That is 98 SE, which can be verified by seeing if it is the same as the other computer.

Probably. See http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/network/win98se_cab/intro.htm. The instructions are similar. If it is using the ATMoE protocol, see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q273587&id=273587&SD=MSKB. If it isnít and the ADSL MODEM has an Ethernet interface, see http://duxcw.com/faq/ics/waysshare.htm other (and better) ways of doing it. Larr
