connecting two crossover cables

hello,
I have a couple crossover cables and also a few straight cat5 cables. I am trying to extend the lenght of the cable using the rj45 coupler and its not working. I need to connect two 25ft crossover cables together, each cable works just fine by itself but not when its connected with the coupler. Can it be done ?

Assuming th cables are made correctly… Two crossover cables = one straight-thru cable. One crossover cable + one straight-thru cable = a longer crossover cable. http://duxcw.com/faq/network/solder.htm. Larry

cables are store bought. they work just fine when used by themselves. I am going to try crossover-coupler-straight cable to see if that works. I thought about that before but thought I'd ask first:)
