WIN98/WIN98SE NETWORKING

I AM UNABLE TO GET THESE TWO COMPUTERS TO NETWORK TO EACH OTHER.
I HAVE FOLLOWED THE SET UP PROCEDURES IN THE "HOW TO" GUIDE AND BOTH ARE SET UP THE SAME AS PER THE INSTRUCTIONS
ANY HELP TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I have them connected now thank you. The computer store gave me the wrong cable. I needed crossover and they gave me 568.e cat.5e
I now need to know how if I have to put the cable modem into the system with win 98se or can I share through the win98 system that it is connected to. I really do not want to remove the card and switch if I do not have to since the win98 system is configured to work on my connection at my place of work.

I take it that you have an internal cable MODEM? Windows 98 does not have an Internet Connection Sharing capability, Windows 98 SE does. SyGate works better than Windows 98 SE ICS… If it is an external MODEM with an Ethernet connection to your computer, a router works best and is what I recommend… http://duxcw.com/faq/ics/waysshare.htm.
