network config after installing web tv for windows

Hello, Iv’e had to install Web tv for windows to get my AIW Radeon tv to work, the problem is Web tv for windows has altered the network config , I can still connect but nothing downloads ,I have all the tcp/ip settings set to auto assign IP address, do I need to give all the adapters a gateway through the dial up adapter and will I have to assign IP addresses? Must be something of this order the connection is there just no throughput, could someone help me configure this please, I’d be really gratefull. Network is P2P win Me’s with ics ,I’ll worry about the client when Iv’e got this one sorted . Thanks

It is possible, but not likely, that you may have to increase the number of permissible instances of TCP/IP MaxInstance entry under the MSTCP protocol in the Nettrans.inf file in the Windows\Inf folder with a text editor such as notepad. Note that the maximum number for this entry is 8 in Windows 95/98/98SE and 10 in Windows Millennium.
Uninstall and reinstall ICS with Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Windows Setup, Communications, Details… the IP for the adapter going to the clients should be static and set to 192.168.0.1 by ICS. The IPs on the clients should be obtained from the ICS DHCP server automatically. Configuration is at http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/network/win98se/client.htm. Larry

Yes it was set at 10 .I got the same thing happen when i installed dial up server(web tv not installed)connection but no throughput, what settings do these change to act as servers? It's conceivable thats what web tv was trying to do, i do run zonealarm but i set averything as servers ,no good,then shut it down still no good so its not blocked from getting out by the firewall.Does any of this make sense Larry? It's a good job iv'e got Restore I can keep going back to a working DUN and try different configs. Westy

As I said, ICS does not look like it is setup correctly in the configuration you posted there should be two lines that look similar to these:
TCP/IP(Home)->Network Adapter
TCP/IP(Shared)-> Network or Dial-Up adapter
