Automatic connection to ISP

We have just this week installed 3 computers to a hub & everything is working perfectly except for our connection to our ISP.
The host computer (1) has an internal modem & windows XP. Computer(2) has Windows XP & computer (3) has Windows 98.
If computer(1) is turned on & not connected to the ISP & we turn on either computer (2) or (3)
the modem immediately starts to dial the ISP & connects if we are not quick enough to cancel.
Help, any ideas.

Check the settings in Start, Settings, Control Panel, Internet Options, Connections… If the host is down there is no network connection to the Internet and if “Dial whenever a network connection is not present” is selected, the client will attempt to do what it is configured to do. Larry
