I need to find a website that explains the route an e-mail message takes on its little journey. Any help would be appreciated.

You can educate you self on the process a little by tracing a few E-Mails with the header information., e.g.:
Outlook 2000: right-click the message, Options
Outlook Express 6.0: right click the message, Properties, Details
