XP can't locate domain controller

Server: Windows NT, using a domain (TCP/IP and NETBEUI protocols installed).
Workstation: Windows XP (TCP/IP and NETBEUI protocols installed).
When trying to join the XP Workstation into the domain I recieve the following error message:
A domain controller for the domain <mydomain> couldn't be contacted.
P.S.
I'm not a networking expert so I would greatly appreciate if advice comes in very plain english.

Try removing NetBEUI from all PCs on the network. I found I had to do that with XP. Larry

well .... check the DNS Server if it's online or not adi
