ICS between Win2kPro and Win98se(client) but client can't browse internet

I have two PC connect using direct cable(crossed UTP5) connection. The Win2k pro is connected to the internet with 56k modem and its NIC is connected to the Win98SE client's NIC.
The LAN works fine and they can see each other in the network places. They can both ping each other. For the Win2k pro, I've also enabled the internet connection sharing and the dial up on demand by client.
The TCP/IP properties are:
TCP/IP (Win 2k) Fast ethernet
Specify IP address 192.168.0.1
sub net 255.255.255.0
DNS none
Gateway none
WINS none

TCP/IP (WIN98SE) ethernet
Specify IP address 192.168.0.2
sub net 255.255.255.0
DNS disabled
Gateway 192.168.0.1
WINS disabled
Advanced – Allow binding to ATM No
Binding for Client for Microsoft Network and File and Printer Sharing
I've also follow the steps in the FAQ section that in the internet options>connections>LAN settings, I must uncheck every thing.
But once I've unchecked every thing and start IE6 on the WIN98SE(client), I can't browse the internet and the 'cannot find server' error is shown on the browser. Although on the WIN2K pro pc, the dial up to the ISP was successful.
When I checked the use a proxy server option and enter the proxy, the WIN98SE(client)'s IE can start to browse the internet. This is really puzzling!!
Please help cause I've been trying to solve this problem for days. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Set TCP/IP on the ICS client to auto. Power-down both computers. Turn-on the ICS host first. Start, Run, enter winipcfg on the client and release and renew the IP address. If you want to use a static IP on the client, the ICS DHCP servr must be disabled or its IP address scope configured so as not to inteerfer with the static IP on the client. All checkboxes in Start, Setting, Control Panel, Inteernet Options, Connections, LAN Settings must be unchecked on the client. Larry

Thanks for replying Larry. I'm sorry as I'm new to networking, I'm not sure of how to disable the ICS DHCP server so as not to interfere with the static IP on the client.
