I originally had a BR that I accidently locked and had to return, this ABR works fine as a switch but I cannot get it to see my cable modem - a Motorola SB4100. The WAN light blinks in time with the Activity light on the CM when there's activity, but I cannot ping any IP on the net.I changed the Router IP to 192.168.0.1 so that it would fit into my home LAN as the previous one had, I can access the config pages and have cloned both my NIC MAC and the CM Mac, with no success. I'm all out of ideas and still waiting for SMC support to get back to me.
My laptop is 192.168.0.181 and I've set the default gateway and everything else to look at the router.
I used to use the cable modem through its USB, not the RJ45 - don't know if this makes any difference. Also, the original BR took about two hours to get working and I have no idea why it finally decided to. A friend of a friend says SMC mentioned a mistake in the manual, but I don't know if this is for the BR or the ABR.
Anyone had a similar problem? Is there a solution?
