My house is using http://www.greyfox.com/The telephone line is using cat5 4 pair standard wire so I have 8 wires. My understanding is that telephone uses 2 wires and 10baseT networking uses 4 wires (really 2 but doubling each signal).
But I am told you can't mix different network types on the same cat5 cable? I'm sure it would work but perhaps I would have performance issues. The telephone is also carrying a DSL signal. Would having the telephone and networking on this single cat5 have crosstalk problems? Of course I would wire it like it's described on this site and then use 1 of the unused pairs to carry the dsl/telephone line.
Would this work or should I run another cat5 just for the networking?
I have to make a decision on this today so if someone has some advice on this I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
Steve
