Have you setup a VPN? Do you have the software? Setup it up without the router and those settings for the router should be (more) obvious. Get the horse before worrying about the cart. Larry

You're right. I found out about VPN Server. It's part of w2k. I don't have server based network, just wXP workstations.
What additional software should I get?

I have not done it. Also, as I understand it, your ISP has to support VPN and some them charge for the capability. You may need a static IP address for a VPN server. Most ISPs charge for additional IPs. Larry
