Hi all,I just got Comcast cable modem internet installed in my house. I want to use my 3COM router to share this service with other PC's.
Currently I have 1 98SE machine connected to the cable modem directly and internet.
To go thru the router, I connected the cable modem with the 3COM router and then the PC with a port of 3COM. Then from the PC i type in 192.168.2.1. This is the default IP address of the router. It could not connect to the router. I know it works cause earlier I had DSL setup in my previous appartment and I was able to get everything going. Then I release all/ renew all configs and my PC was now able to get an IP address from the router and connect to it. Now I am stuck as to which option to choose for the router to connect to Internet. I choose Dynamic IP config but its not able to Reconfigure. Earlier with DSL, I was using PPP over Ethernet. From what I understand Cable modem is like LAN setup and works differently than a DSL. On my PC, I have workgroup defined as Comcast.net. Im not sure where I can tell the router about this workgroup.
Any help on this setup and which option to choose......thanks
