WinXP - Win98 IPX/SPX Networking

Hi I have a WinXp - Win98 homenetwork
The TCP/IP network is working correctly, i.e. I can share flies, and connect to the internet from the Win98 computer through the WinXp computer.
But my IPX/SPX Network isn't working at all.
I have installed the IPX/SPX protocols on both, and selected Ethernet II.
Can somebody please help me?

Also, make sure both are using the IPX/SPX network number. Do not install the Novell client unless you have a Novell file server. Larry

What do you mean by 'the' network adress?
I'm rather new to ipx/spx networks, I just want to play old pc-games like Starcraft, Command and Conquer etc., but as I told, my IPX network isn't working at all.

Somewhere in the protocol properties there is a setting for the network number or address, Pick a number, say 1, and make sure both computers have the same number. I just installed it. Look in the Advanced tab. On mine it says the value of the Network Address is zero and that will probably work ok if both computers are set that way. I don't recall which frame type I used but it wasn't Ethernet II. There may problems with that choice. We used to use 802.2 or 802.3. It is difficult to remember because we started with one of them and switched to the other for some good reason. If memory serves me right, we started with the higher number and switched to the lower one.
You might try enabling NetBIOS over SPX/IPX. That could be the problem as that enables file sharing, etc. However, NetBEIU should take care that? Also, check both client boxes in Bindings. Come on readers/gamers, help this person out. I haven't played with IPX/SPX in quite a while. Larry
