I have a small home lan installed with 5 computers, a linksys hub connecting them uplinked to a linksys 4 port router to my cable modem. I also have a linksys (EPSX3) printserver with two printers attached that is also connected to the hub. I also have a printer attached to one machine via LPT1. The network works well and all machines can get to the net and each other. My problem is printing. When I attempt to print to the printserver printers through my XP machine, it takes about 10 seconds for the print window to come up and over a minute to print a simple document. The printer I have attached to the server is a Lexmark 4039. When I print through LPT1 (by setting my HP 870CXI as default), the print window comes up immediately and printing is very quick. I have looked everywhere for a solution to speed up the printing. I have the printserver on a static IP address as well.
I have also tried adding NetBeui to the printserver in addition to TCP/IP static address.
Any ideas as to what I can do to speed this up, as I add more pages to the queue, it tends to hang the printer. I then have to restart the printer and clear the queue to start over.
Thanks,
Marty
