Making The Client Faster
cfung07 Apr-02-00 08:56 PM
I have a DSL for my host, but my client is pretty slow loading webpages. So how could I make my client to load faster?

Click Start, Click Run, and Enter “regedit” (without the quotes). In regedit click Registry on the menu and Select Export followed by Export Registry File. Save (backup) the registry files to a convenient location like My Documents.
Click plus signs as follows
+ Hkey_Local_Machine
+ System
+ CurrentControlSet
+ Services
+ ICSharing
+ Settings
+ General
Delete InternetMTU.
You should not delete this key if you are using a dial-up MODEM.

I have one little question; is this for the client?

Do it on the host and see if it helps. The fix is generally for a slow host with ICS. Larry

Sorry, I should have looked at your earlier message. My message was concerning slow-downs with Windows 98 SE ICS (must be Monday). Clients using SyGate on my system are pretty darn fast. Some slow-down occurs when the host is downloading. I would get rid of any network protocols and adapters not required my the client to connect to the host or the Internet. Larry

It is much better now, but when trying to go to those "big" sites, like Yahoo! and espn.com, it gets slow down dramatically. Is there a way that I could fix that?

The fastest Internet connection in the world won't make a slow web server or choked pipe elswhere fast. Larry
