Lan & internet sharing in laptop

I am use my company lane to connect my sony laptop at work. I use pcmcia Linksys 10/100 pc card & window 98 se. the company server use us west isdn dial out & window NT4.+ proxy server 2.0
When I connect to Lan it works fine on local connection with other work station & server, when I go into internet thru server sometine it work fine on open a web page, but when I want to go into 2nd level of the page or to click on some info. post on the page. the screen shows a message."proxy report 1101 Host was not found. *bad/misspelled url *your networkconnection or internet conditions on the internet", I know this is not bad url because some times I click refresh several times it goes in fine, but most of the time it just shows message above. when I try go into hotmail, it shows" can't find server". I try to reinstall windows but it still the same .please help me to figure out problem(the internet connection between otherstation & server are fine).

Compare your browser proxy connection configuration to those of the other computers that don't have the problem. Larry

I checked the setting with other computer, it is same. few questions: do I need install all IPX/SPX;TCP/IP;NETBEUI or just one of them. When connect in network internet (IF Success connect into internet) some web site I can get in, some not. I know it is not wrong url because when I use my pcmcia fax modem connect to regular phone line it works fine. Is there a special place beside network&Internet option I have to check make sure I did not use the wrong setting?

You only need one of the NetBIOS protocols (TCP/IP, NetBEUI, IPX/SPX) for Windows networking (peer-to-peer disk sharing, etc.) and to connect to an NT server domain. However, all computers that you want to network with must also be running a protocol common to one of the protocols running on your computer. There is no reason whatsoever to be running IPX/SPX unless you have a Novell server on the network or have applications such as some games that require it. Obviously, you must run TCP/IP for the Internet. If the network is configured correctly, that is all you need. Running both TCP/IP and NetBEUI on a network can make things a little easier because TCP/IP is more complicated than NetBEUI and must be configured correctly for it to be common to all of the computers on the network. Additional protocols do require processing overhead. Suggest discussing your problem with the people in charge of your network and the proxy server.
