Windows ME Networking Problem
cwarner Dec-13-00 02:10 AM
I have 2 computers running Win ME with a Linksys 4 port network cable router. Both computers can access the internet just fine. I have ran network card diagnostics which passed. I can not see either computer on the network and have triple checked workgroup names and computer names. Could Norton Internet Security be blocking the connection? I only have tcp/ip setup. Static address are correct (192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3) I'm out of ideas?

Remove or disable the firewall part of Norton; you don't need it. Remove the static IPs and get them automatically from the router. Run winipcfg and release and renew the IPs after doing this and rebooting. Larry

I tried disabling NIS first and that took care of the problem. Everything works fine now! Thanks for the help.
