pop3 on linux

There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was rejected. Account: '63.220.x.x', Server: '63.220.x.x', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR this user has no $HOME/Maildir', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92
Can anyone please tell me what does this message means?
I have Linux Redhat7.0 as my mail server
I am trying to log in my email account via outlook Express from client, and it gave me the message error above.
i have checked the mail server
Port 110 is open pop3
Maildir is there
what's wrong? can someone please help!!!

I'm not using Linux, but setting-up a Linux box is on my list and I was a UNIX troubleshooter many years ago. Maybe this will help:

Troubleshooting
PROBLEM: you are connecting to your POP server with valid password and username and they are rejected with a message Password incorrect.
SOLUTION: PAM doesn't like your setup. This message is common for qpopper 2.53, use 3.0 and it should disappear. Otherwise, look into /etc/pam.d/pop3 that you created. Is it OK?
