The best way that I know of to share a DSL or cable MODEM is to buy a Barricade and run twisted-pair cables (http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/network/cable/cable1.htm). I have that kind of setup. Two of the computers are about 100 wire feet away. I connected the second one Saturday (Hooray! My Wife’s office is finally wired--and she is already nagging me about other things). It was quite a bit of work running the cables, but well worth the effort. Just put on some old clothes, gather-up your tools, and do it. Once you are started, the hard part is over. There is an 8-port version of the Barricade (http://duxcw.com/digest/Reviews/Network/smc/smc7004br/smc7004br.htm) or you can get the 4-port version or single port router and connect it to an existing hub or Ethernet switch (http://duxcw.com/faq/network/hubsw.htm). The cable runs can be up to about 100 meters/yards long. Larry
