Print sharing with Win2k Pro & Win98

everytime I try to connect a win98 machine to a shared printer on win2k machine it says network connection not available. I have set up users and rights on the win2k machine with passwords which match the logon name and passwords on the win98 mcahines, I have enabled the guest user. But I still can't print to the shared printer. can anyone help?

Is it a Win 2K server with a domain? If so, in Start, Settings, Control Panel, Network, Client for Microsoft Networks, Properties on the Win 98 computer check Logon to Windows NT domain, and enter the domain name. Larry

There is no domain name all PCs are in a workgroup, its a workstation acting as a print server, there is a netware file server on the lan as well.

Thanks for your help but I have resolved the problem by searching for the IP address on the win98 machines, of the Win2k server rather than the name of the win2k server.

Wins, or HOST and LMHOST tables might fix that. See C:\Windows\HOSTS.SAM on the Win 9x compouter and C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS.SAM and LMHOSTS.SAM on the Win NT box. Larry
