Switching Between Dialup and Lan Access

I have a laptop which I plug in and out of my lan at home.
I use it only for browsing.
Laptop is running Win98ME.
My problem is that I cannot despite my best efforts get IE5 to intelligently switch between the LAN and internal dialup modem, based on if the laptop is plugged into the LAN.
In short what configuration (or extra s/w) fo I need so that my laptop.
o Uses the LAN connection when the modem is plugged into the LAN
o Uses the dialup connection when not plugged in to the LAN.

if you can get hold of a copy of windows 2000 this will do the job for you very well.
i also use a laptop for the same reason and it works very well for this purpose

Go Tools, Internet Options and Connections and click the box that says dial whenever a LAN connection is not present. This seems to work weel on all the laptops that connect t othe LAN in may office.
