Notebook and PC Networked with CAT5, RJ-45, want to go to phoneline

Hello,
I recently purchased a PCMCIA NIC for my notebook, and a PCI NIC for my PC. The NIC that I have with my desktop is compatable with Phoneline and RJ-45 connectors. The PCMCIA NIC, has the little cable that connects to it. That little cable is for an RJ-45 connection. They are both 10BaseT/10Base2.
I want to save cost by building off of the existing phone line structure that I have in the house.
Am I able to purchase a different connector for the PCMCIA card? Please let me know if I confused you.

I don’t know what NIC you have in the PC. What is it? You will be doing yourself a big favor if you run CAT 5 cable for the network. Larry

What is the throughput for Phoneline?
The NIC that I have in my PC is a Diamond.
The NIC I have in my notebook is a 3com - Etherlink III, (Dell)

The reason why I wanted to use phoneline, is because I already have about 600feet of phoneline and 4 wall jacks that I can add in.

10 Mhz. If you are going to run wire, strongly recommend that you run CAT 5. CAT 5 wire is cheap. Phoneline networks require phone line network adapters. They aren't cheap.
