maxblast May-12-01 06:14 AM
hello all ,
iv'e just aquired cable modem via local isp and wondered can i share same connection via my hub on a second pc.
my first pc has 10/100 nic card running through hub,as does the second pc.
i configured the second pc some how using winipcfg and can now ping the cable modem and also www.yahoo.com ,but when i go to browse the web it says unable to browse the net server was reset,
i just wondered if anyone knows how to share the internet connection on 2 pc's via a hub using win98, p.s. the hub is only 10mbs not 100
if not i have a third network card i can use to connect the 2 pc's if that would help.
many thanks in advance

You would have to purchase software to a second IP address from your service provider to use only hub and that usually entails a monthly fee, or install software, such as the latest version of Sygate (http://duxcw.com/digest/Reviews/Network/sygate/sygate.htm) that can share the connection with only network adapter in each computer (the review is of an older version that requires two adapters). The ways to share an Internet connection are described at http://duxcw.com/faq/ics/waysshare.htm. Larry
