I have one of my computer running Red Hat Linux 7 and the OS doesn't detect the modem (USR WINMODEM)and the ethernet card(LINKSYS). This is my first time using Linux, and I don't know how to fix them. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?Boricua 1. RE: MODEM AND ETHERNET CARD UNDER LINUX. diletante Jan-03-01 01:41 PM In response to message 0
The USR Winmodem is designed to work with Windows and can not be expected to work under Linux. Buy a hardware modem. USR has some good ones that will work with Linux. You will have to do some configuration to get your network card working and the same goes for a hardware modem. It has been at least a year since I did this, so I won't try to explain. Have a look at the Linux How To's. They are readily available online. Try this link: Linux Documentation Project There are also forums like this one: VirtualDr Unix forum Hope this helps.Rob
