Epson Printer ( Color 860) Problem

My Epson Stylus Color 860 was purchased in October, 2000. It has worked fine until now.It does not print with black ink. The colored ink does fine. I did several head cleanings as recommended with no results.The nozzel check pattern does color, but no black.I have used my instructions in book and the Epson support web site. Nothing seems to cover exact problem. I have not called a technical support representative yet. I also changed to a new ink cartridge and did several more head cleanings. That did not help either. No settings have been changed. Does anyone have a suggestion or has anyone had this kind of problem before? I would appreciate any help.
