New Build Help

Hi
Am a not a wizard at IT by any stretch of the imagination but am a born fiddler. I have an AMD 500 machine which is quite a good spec other than the cpu is a bit slow at todays standards. Iwant to get another keeping the existing one for the kids and I Want To Build It!!!.
Loads of info on the net but if I trawl through it all I won't get started till the next millenium
so here I am to pick the brains of those in the know!!
Basicaly I want to build what I heard described as a God Box so beginning with the case and ending with the mouse what should my shopping list
look like.
I've been to no other forum for this info so my success depends on ure help..

Well, I am also using a 500 MHz computer, my son's computer is faster, and I’m still waiting until probably this fall to upgrade… (this line continued at http://duxcw.com/dcforum/DCForumID5/406.html) Here’s a good starting point for a list http://duxcw.com/digest/Howto/buildcom/socka/1.htm, except Abit has introduce newer revisions of the motherboard since then. Why don’t you update it (just the list, please) a little to suite and post in this thread to serve as a basis to get additional suggestions from others? Larry

I don't want to upgrade as I want a sep unit as I have 2 homes (no I'm not rich). The do it pages I checked out last night and it is this list as you rightly say that I would like the help with. I am aware that things haved moved on and it is the advice on the newer prods that I ask for.
