Am using a HP600 serie printer, when I boot up my machine a DOS screen is displayed, i.e, the Control Panel for DOS, which states that the 'Printer Status is Unknown', have tried all the options to try and rectify the problem but it is still being displayed. Can minimise the screen and use the PC as normal, printer works fine, cna print as normal, etc., any suggestion gratefully recieved. 1. Try booting to DOS by holding the F8 key just as Windows is about to start and making the appropriate selection in the resulting menu. Edit the Autoexec.bat file with: C:\>edit autoexec.bat Look for a line in the file similar to the following: C:\DESKJET\DJCP Rem-out the line by putting rem in front of it as follows: rem C:\DESKJET\DJCP (Putting rem in front of line in a DOS batch file converts the line into a non-executing remark or comment line.) Save the file and Exit the editor Reboot. I guessed about the line being in the autoexec.bat. If it isn’t there, please come back. Larry
