We are we still stuck with only interrupts 00-15.
Theoretically, up to four PCI slots/motherboard PCI devices can share a single interrupt…What causes this restriction?
Poor design and implementation of Plug and Play. Plug ‘n Prey simply doesn’t work for most loaded computers. Many average computers have problems as well. I have spent many many man-days solving the problems.
It seems that if I have 3 open slots, I should be able to install something and not have these kinds of problems.
I certainly agree, but the reality it that you probably will have problems.
What has to happen to change it?
A new standard/design that works. An "uprising"/demand large enough to gain the attention of the hardware and software bigshots. Larry
