I/O MAGIC 12X Internal DVD-ROM Drive

I don't know where this fit in these forums but here goes.My son recieved an HI-VAL I/O MAGIC 12X Internal DVD-ROM Drive
Brand/Model: IMM HDVD12A16R for a gift and can not get it to run right and I thought it would just be enable DMA and away he would go,WRONG (can't see exactly how to do this in 2000).
His machine is set up with:
an Athlon 750 processor; A DFI AK70 systemboard; 256 pc133; Sound Blaster Audigy W/1394; SVGA ATI Radeon 64MB AGP Vivo;LS-120 drive;30 G WD/HD; Operating System WIN 2000 Pro. DVD is hook up as master on the secondary IDE port.
The video card has decoder software and the DVD has PowerDVD Playback Software also decoder software. I can not believe that this thing will not run without being jerky and I still thing that it is a DMA problem but I can not seem to get it figured out . Is this thing just not Hardware Compliant, it says for 2000 O/S. I could use an idea mine is to take it back.

Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, System Tools, Device Manager, Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, right-click the controller, Properties, Advanced Settings, and select the transfer mode for the device. Larry
