how to find a file on win 98 CD ?

I need to reload a file called Rundll32 , how do I locate this on my win 98 CD , I have searched all the cabinet files manually but can't find it, the FIND FILES option in the start menu won't locate it on the disc, why is this? it is easy to find in C:WINDOWS , why is it so hard to locate on the CD?

Is it missing or are you getting Rundll32 errors? It should be in Win98_42.cab (mskb 188434, http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q188/4/34.ASP). If Windows boots up… have you tried the System File Checker (Start, Programs, Accessories, System Information, tools…)? Larry

the error notice I get is ' Rundll32 caused an invalid page fault in module NEWDOTNET3_23.DLL ( after re-starting)
I have recently upgraded the RAM from 128 to 256 SD RAM ...could this affect anything?
I'm using an ASUS p5ab super 7 mainboard.
The computer otherwise runs fine.

Hi Larry,
I think you are right, there is a newdotnet application shown in the add/remove programmes dialogue box, however when I select the add/remove button, the dialogue box closes, and when I return to desktop the add/remove dialogue box is still there , frozen, so that it doesn't respond to closing it or anything else untill I control alt delete. when opening the add/remove dialogue box again, the newdotnet app is still in the list so it hasn't been removed.
When I click remove, another small dialogue opens saying 'this operation will uninstall support for newnet names'
Add/ remove programs does not work, these XXXXXX have basically installed a virus on my system, I don't know how it got there, I want rid of it.

I thought the link I provided in my last post had instructions for getting rid of it? That is all the info I can find on it. You may have to edit the registry and manually delete stuff to get rid of it. Larry
