disappearing folders and emails

I'm using a notebook installed with Win98SE and Outlook97 under our company LAN network. Something weird is happening to my personal folders which I have created. Two of my folders and a number of emails from different folders were found lost. No viruses found. What can be wrong? Please help.

I would run the Inbox repair tool (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q171371 and http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q168648 -- copy and paste the whole link through Q171371 or Q168648) and then check the drive with Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, scandisk. Other than that a worm or human error are suspect. Larry
