Hi. Does anyone know how I can make the Dial Up Networking icon, in the system tray, display the actual connection speed? ( The picture of the two little joined together monitors ) Mine used to do this, but since a system rebuild all it does is display the "maximum speed" as in the modem properties ( in my case, set at 115200 bps ) when the pointer is floated over it. I am running Win98 SE, but also have access to a WinXP machine that does the same. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have seen this problem before (http://duxcw.com/digest/Reviews/Modems/fm56-h.htm). The solution was to download a revised driver for the MODEM. Larry 2. RE: Dial Up Networking Speed Indication stevejlee May-21-02 02:35 PM In response to message 1
Thanks for the tip, Larry. I will give it a try at the weekend. My main one is OK - I know just what that is. The WinXP one could be more of a problem - I am not sure exactly what that is. I will have to do a bit more detective work! Thanks again Steve. 3. RE: Dial Up Networking Speed Indication stevejlee May-28-02 12:31 PM In response to message 2
Hi Larry. Well, I located and installed teh latest driver that I could find for my modem at the weekend - and the minor annoyance is still there, I am afraid. I know that it is no big deal, but it would be nice to get the connection speed correctly reported. Have you ( or anyone else out there in DUXworld ) got any further suggestions? It is double frustrating as, before a reformat and software rebuild, it was working fine. I don't recall having to do anything special first time around. Best Regards, Steve. 4. Then it might be an older driver, or you had the Windows standard MODEM installed. It annoyed me also. Larry
