My sister's computer is having a problem where everytime she puts in an audio CD into her CD-R drive, it won't play anything. You can see the timer counting off, like it's playing, but no sound. I made sure that all the settings for the CD-R were correct, checked with the master volume controls. It used to say that the file "program.exe" was missing, but now it doesn't show that message. I have no idea what might have caused this, because I noticed it when I was visiting her in NH recently. She doesn't know when the problem started because she hasn't tried to play an audio CD on it for a long time. Software CD's are still working, but I don't know if there is sound on them or not. Any idea what the problem might be?

If the case had been opened, or in the worst case, beaten, the thin audiocable can becom detached from either the drive or the soundcard.
Check this first if all other sounds are playing fine.
