I have just put together a box with a K6 2 500
on a MVP3G2, with Matrox G400, 20 gb IBM, 2 gb Quantum,Promise Ultra 66 card with CD RW and
CD plugged into each Ide slot. The Idea being that
every Ide gadget runs from its own slot.
I got thru the Fdisk and partitioning of the 20 gb
drive succesfully, loaded CD drivers of a floppy
( with a fair bit of trouble) then installed Win95
OS2.
When I rebooted I received the message
"While initializing Device IOS windows Protection error"
I am a bit stuck for what to do, I've read where
I have to upgrade the BIOS, install Via 4 in 1,
Latest G400 drivers, Promise Ultra drivers,
However I do not know which order to do this? The Promise and G400 drivers need Win95 to be
successfully running to install them, but what of the others. I have all the relevant drivers either
on floppy or CD.
As the Promise card was not yet working I ran the CD out of the second IDE cable outlet on my 2gb
Quantum drive,
The current BIOS is dated 3/3/00
I want to install a MIRO DC30 card when all is well, it needs to use IRQ 9, 10 or 11
I hope you can offer some help at this stage
