How do I safely flash the bios on my Asus A7V? 1. RE: Bios lbyard Oct-16-00 01:12 PM In response to message 0
Buying new flash memory chip and using flash memory burner is the safest way. Burning the flash memory on the motherboard always runs the risk of a power or computer failure which can leave you with garbage on the chip and, in many cases, no way to boot the motherboard. An uninterruptible power supply can help guard against a power failure during a flash, but it isn’t an absolute guarantee. Also, flashing with the wrong BIOS or a defective flash memory chip may leave your computer in a state from which it can’t boot. It may be possible to recover from a bad flash using the procedures On Wim’s BIOS page at http://www.ping.be/bios/HTML1/faq.html#q9. Many other questions are answered in Wim’s BIOS FAQs, as well. I have flashed many hundreds of motherboards and have not had a bad flash yet. It will happen someday. Having said all of this, the procedures for flashing the Asus A7V are at: http://www.asus.com/Products/Motherboard/flash.html. Larry
