"Epox MVP3C2 tips"
I've just built a new rig. Epox Mvp3c2 K6-2 500@504. I've had a bit of a problem o'cing it.
The mobo seems very stable and the cpu combo is nice.
I don't have much experience with this board.
Anyone got any experience or bios/settings tweaks.

I have that same motherboard but mine has a K6-III+ 450 mhz CPU (0.18 micron process/2.0 V core) which runs much cooler than the standard K6 chips.
I am able to overclock it to 600 mhz without any special CPU cooler and just raising the voltage to 2.1 V.
The original K6-X chips are not good overclockers and their performance is also significantly slower than the K6+ vintage due to the difference in cache.
I bought mine from Tigerdirect for $49 in December, but I understand that they've sold out. The K6-2+ chips are availabe elsewhere for about the same price.

I have the same board and chip. I run mine at 112*5 and have a global win fan/hs. I use pc133 memory and the voltage is set at 2.3/2.4 v.
This has been run since last July. Temp runs at about 100F 3F degrees.
This is the only combo I have been able to get to work with out any problems. If you have a boxed version of the chip I would watch the temp very closely because the new fan/hs made a big difference in the chip temp. If you have a oem version you may have to consider buying a more radical fan/hs.
I have run benchmarks on this machine with other settings and this is the one to use.(unless you can get yours to run faster)
If it is worth waiting for, you probably have waited too long already.

The fan of the boxed chip should say AMD on the top of it. Larry

OEM has no fan/hs attached and comes with short warranty (15-30 days), boxed has a fan/hs that does not (easily) come off and a factory warranty (3yrs or so). You will void your factory warranty if you remove the factory fan.

Thanks again. It must be OEM. The fan i have is pretty good, but just ordered a Globalwin FOP32 which i hope will fit ok - if not I'll use it for my Duron/MSI rig.
