Hi again Larry,
Ok 1st I down loaded the sight you reccomended and I did have the audio board (philips Acoustc edge) in slot 11 and my qwest external modem adapter in slot 10 I switched them,I do have the option for IRQ os either yes or no I selected yes
then there was a option for auto or manual I chose
auto, there was a last option for the ability to reassign IrQ...I disabled instead of enabling.
On the other side of my screen in bios there is a
option for a choice of level or edge I chose level
I have improved my sound alot just doing these things. STILL I get some interrmittent gliches.
Also if im using the audio to listen to say a cd while working and another program is open where there is audio both audio files are heard at the same time, I would think this computer would be more capable of assigning some sort of prority or a hey I was playing first type thing.give me your thought s please....... Mike

option for a choice of level or edge I chose level.” Choose the BIOS default(s) unless you know it should be set for one or the other. The CD Audio goes directly into the soundboard amplifier via a direct cable and not through the computer. Mute whatever sound source you don’t want to hear. The last computer I had in my shop with and “all-in one” (http://duxcw.com/digest/guides/buymb/intro.htm) PCChips motherboard had all kinds of problems and the customer opted to replace the motherboard. Larry as far as changing the mother board I think that would be a lovely idea ....but as I asked you earlier what typ /brand/ etc could I use and would that give me a faster processor?
Would that also allow me to use my new Philip sound card? I also thought all new motherboards were all in one boards now? Since I do not physically have a video card, rather a chip, would I have to purchase one and what would you recommend? Thanks, Mike

I have been using Abit (http://www.abit.com.tw/english/index.htm) KT7 motherboards and Athlon CPUs lately. Abit just came-out with the KT7E. You probably do not need the RAID version. There are other very good motherboards from other manufacturers. If the motherboard eats into your budget too much for an Athlon CPU, you might want to consider a Duron. You would need a new video board. I’ll let the gaming fanatics comment on high-end boards. A more modest video board, and the one I used in the last two computers I built for customers is the Aopen PA3000 with 16 Mbytes. I am currently using Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live Value soundcards with Cambridge Soundworks speakers (woofer plus two speakers). I will post and article on how to build a computer with these components in the next day or two. You need to take a hard look at the case and power supply. You should have a 300 Watt power supply, but a quality 250 W power supply will work. As for me, I am still using my 500 Mhz K6-2 processor and EpoX MVP3G2 motherboard, and still waiting (sigh!) for the AMD Palomino Athlon processor, DDR memory, and VIA KT266 chipset motherboards. I hope other readers will offer their advice. Larry

All is fixed in this area as well.........
I went to start/run/msconfig/startup
I disabled all but systray,explorer and no more hanging up.....and resources are staying between 95-83 % now. Is there any others start up programs that are a must for windows ME that I should leave ib the start category, in your opinion?......ty mike
