Can someone expain what buffer overun/underun means in reference to a cd write or rewrite drive? Thank you. 1. RE: Cd/rw drive buffer overun/underun lbyard May-24-01 03:27 PM In response to message 0
CD-RW drive must record with a continuous stream of data. They have a buffer where data is to be written temporally stored. An underrun condition occurs when the buffer becomes empty and no data is available to write when needed. This can occur if the computer becomes busy doing too many other things. An overrun condition can occur when the computer sends data to the buffer faster than the data in the buffer can be written-out to a CD—it overflows and data is lost.
