CD Writer cable hookup

Trying to settle an argument. Have an Abit KT7a(Not Raid) with ata100 hard drive connected to IDE1, and, 48x cdrom connected to IDE2. Installing Plextor 12-10-32x cd writer. Where should the Plextor cable plug in? This exact scenario is not shown in the Plextor manual. Thank you.

I would make it a master on the same cable as the CD-ROM (and make sure the CD-ROM is jumpered as a slave). I would not put it on the primary with the hard disk. It can slow-down the hard disk and transfers between the hard disk and the CD-RW will be faster if they are on separate interfaces. I had write problems putting an AOpen CD-RW on the RAID controller on an Abit KT7-RAID motherboard (not KT7A-RAID) and ended-up deactivating the RAID controller. But that was months ago. Please let us know if you get yours working OK on with the HTP-370 controller. Larry

The Plextor works on the KT7, Larry, but it will not write disk to disk. I am sure it is a setting, but, I don't know which one it is. You said to reply to this concerning the HP controller. Thank You.

I had trouble getting the AOpen CD-RW to write when it was connected to the RAID controller interface. I would try if on the normal secondary IDE interface. Larry
